Lands End was one of the first places I got to explore when I moved to San Francisco and I knew I wanted to do a couples session here. It’s the perfect lookout over the pacific ocean. Below you’ll find the Sutro Bath ruins, and a little further down is the Cliff House and then Ocean Beach. It’s got a little bit of everything, so it was the perfect place for a couples session.
First of all, the afternoon sunlight in California is unbeatable. This part of town tends to be foggy pretty often, but we lucked out big time with the weather and had a perfectly clear day. It is SUPER windy here, so that’s definitely something to remember when booking a session at Lands End.
Jane and Colin are also from Atlanta, so getting to connect over that was fun while we did their session. The two just got married (eek!) so they had some recent experience in front of the camera which made my life easy! I think there’s something really special about doing photoshoots to commemorate your time in certain places. I did my own brand session at this same location and it reminds me often about how beautiful California is. Even if you’re only in a city for a short time, I think a photoshoot is such a special way to remember a place and what it means to you.
Even if you don’t come here for photos, I highly highly recommend checking out Lands End and the Sutro Baths. I will make any excuse to come out here. There’s a hiking trail that’s not really strenuous, but if you don’t mind a lot of stairs you can climb down to the rocky beaches. It’s perfect during golden and blue hours.
